                           ORIGINS WEEK

This week long experience will give you an introduction to the world of Bushcraft and outdoor living skills. We cover the fundamentals of Bushcraft so you gain a deeper understanding, build confidence and self reliance in the outdoors. For 2009 the Origins Week has been extended by one day to include Wilderness First Aid.

On the course we will cover:

  • Safe use of cutting tools- Knife, saw and basic axe
  • Natural shelter construction
  • Tree and plant identification and uses
  • Wild foods
  • Fire lighting lays and safety
  • Fire by Friction
  • Cooking over open fires
  • Water collection and purification
  • Nature observation and movement
  • Wood carving and woodcraft projects
  • Natural Cordage
  • Stalking Wild Game
  • Wilderness First Aid

On this course as on the weekend course, students are asked to camp with the Tamarack team.  cutting implements will be provided on the course.

Food is provided for the evening meals but breakfast and lunch is on a self catering basis.

Minimum age for attendance is 18 years old
